2023 Convention and AGM Announcement

With less than two weeks until the 2023 Conference and AGM we want to remind all members of the option to attend the information sessions and AGM virtually.

On Wednesday September 20th at 9:00 AM EST we are hosting what we are calling “CNAREA Session”. This will be the opportunity for members to meet our new CEO Stacy Thomson who will be sharing her industry insight, her outlook for the valuation industry, and the direction the association will need to take in these changing times.

At 1:30 PM EST September 20th we are presenting George Dell. George’s unique approach to the valuation industry will be extremely interesting and informative for members and stakeholders.

On Thursday morning at 9:30 AM EST we are looking at the important issue of Mortgage Fraud and its overall effect on the Real Estate industry including Appraisers. With expert panelists from the Title Insurance industry this will be a timely and informative session.

Both the George Dell presentation and the Mortgage Fraud panel will qualify for a total of 8 Continuing Education hours.

This year the AGM will be held Thursday September 21st at 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM EST and members can still register to attend virtually.

During the AGM we will update the membership on the financial affairs of the Association, Insurance Program Update, and other matters that affect all members.

This year’s election will be for four (4) Director seats; three (3) for a two-year term and one (1) for a one-year term. The seat available for one (1) year is due to the resignation of a board member who was elected to a two-year term in 2022. Section 9-5 states; “Any vacancy occurring in the board of directors shall be filled at the next annual meeting by a regular vote of the members of the association.”

Per CNAREA By-Laws, on August 21st we posted the proposed By-Law changes that will be voted on by members at this year’s AGM. Changes to Bylaws can also be proposed by members “from the floor” during the AGM.

Eligible members attending either in person or virtually will be voting via the services of Data On The Spot Inc. and Simply Voting Software that specialize in AGM’s and elections for Non-Profit Associations. As a reminder Designated members who are members in good standing are eligible to vote in the elections, nominate, and provide their proxy should they not be able to attend in person or virtually.

We strongly encourage all members to participate in the affairs of the association and having the opportunity to attend the CNAREA Session, George Dell, the Mortgage Fraud panel and the AGM virtually is a convenient way to do that. Please note that we have had to change the venue of the offsite event on Thursday evening to The Office Resto Pub, 202 Sparks Street, Ottawa.
